Sandbox and bluetooth kb/m

I have set up a sandbox on my iMac G5 1.6MHz using 10.4.9. Easy initial set-up and Smart update when I decided I wanted more files shared. A couple of problem apps - one fixed easily, the other still being worked on until I run out of ideas. For all that, high marks.

But I am a frustrated as hell by my bluetooth kb/m booting into sandbox. Every time I reach the login screen the cursor freezes for a while. If I am lucky it unfreezes and everything is ok. Mostly it freezes long enough for Bluetooth Set-up to intervene, and then I can go through up to 4/5 cycles of registration for the mouse, then kb. Once in no problems.

This doesn't occur booting into my full system, which isn't much compensation as I'm supposed to be using sandbox full time.

Any suggestion appreciated.

I've not had that problem, actually. This is every boot, or just the first one after updating the Sandbox?

Every boot unfortunately, although as I said some are just a delay - it's a little like non-lethal Russian roulette.

I'm thinking that the extent of the problem (delay/bt registration) might be linked to the length of the preceding downtime. It didn't seem important before because the problem only occurred booting into sandbox and not into the full system. But it struck me that lately I have only booted into full system as a restart out of sandbox. So I will set up to boot full system after overnight shutdown.

Really weird. I suppose it's possible that the "main drive" isn't spinning up quickly enough in some situations, so it can't access your Home folder early enough... but the Bluetooth stuff is stored on the Sandbox itself. I just don't know why this would be.

Latest tests

After 10 hr shutdown booted into full system perfectly, which seems to verify that the problem is isolated to the sandbox partition.

Direct restart from full to sandbox - induced long BT linking; followed by restart from sandbox to sandbox - long BT linking. From previous observations these results were a surprise. I would have expected both, or definitely the second, to get through cleanly.

Regarding 'spin up' I have wondered if there is a link to the time taken to get to the Login screen - this does seem to be slightly shorter for sandbox mostly.

I really don't know what's wrong here, sorry. I'm unable to reproduce here -- BT works just fine...
