Scheduled backup without logging in?

I'm exploring using SuperDuper for scheduled backups of a Mac OS X server. But the issue is that SuperDuper requires that the user be logged in and the screen unlocked. Although physical access to the server is controlled, leaving the admin user logged in is a security concern.

Ideally it would be nice if SuperDuper supported a true background backup. I realize that this would probably be a big architectural departure from the current product. But I'd be willing to pay more money for such a "pro" feature.

In the meantime, it looks like some other forum members have been able to get SuperDuper to work as-is without being logged in. But I can't tell from the documentation or posts how to go about doing this. Maybe it's as simple as changing ownership of the underlying cron tasks to root?

Can someone tell me how to get scheduled backups to work without being logged in?

Thanks in advance,

If you enable the root user and install/schedule while logged in as root, the backups will run without users being logged in, Allen.

Hope that helps!
