Why might my disk images not be showing up?

Hi, Dave.

I have used SuperDuper happily in the past to back up various machines to my sparse disk images on my ReadyNAS.

I had to send my powerbook in for repairs, and duped it (temporarily) to a spare machine, then duped it back when the old machine came back from the shop. I used Apple's migration assistant to do this, and it seemed to work fine.

At the time.

I just attempted to update one of my images, and while they mount happily on the desktop, they show up in SuperDuper's destination menu greyed out.

Can you think of any reason why this would be happening? Anything I should check? Frankly, they look pretty much the same as other sparse images on the RAID.

Scott

Ok - it claims that it is not writeable, which would explain why SD is not putting it in the popup. What, though, do I do now?

Figured it out

When I configured it in the first place, I set it up for a soho environment, so each of us would have their own accounts.

I created the first set of disk images under my own account, not the user name of the intended user.

Thus, when mounted using her username, the disk images were owned by me, not her, and thus were read only.

I do need to figure out how to tranfer them from my user id to hers, but that is not a problem with SD. That is me trying to figure out how to work with a readnas as an afp server.

Gotta love pilot error.

The best kind of Pilot Error is the kind that resolves itself while I'm sleeping, Scott. :) Glad you figured it out.
