SD! backup to exFAT volume?
I have a SuperDuper! copy script that backs-up user files and does not need to be bootable.
Will I be able to use a destination volume that is formatted as exFAT for a backup and subsequent Smart Updates with SuperDuper 3.1.x? The source is macOS Extended, Journaled. I'm actually envisioning using a VeraCrypt container formatted as exFAT as the destination. Thanks. |
Sorry, Timmy. You cannot write directly to anything other than an APFS of HFS+ volume. Why not just use an encrypted disk image, or an encrypted APFS container?

Yes, I am currently using encrypted diskimages for this backup set.
I'm trying to plan for the (somewhat unlikely) possibility of accessing these backups from a non-macOS system. Although, I don't actually have such an environment to play with. I suppose my online backups would cover this situation. I'm just trying to plan for the unexpected. |
You may want to consider Mediafour's PC/Mac drive... it can open HFS+ and -- as I recall -- can also handle APFS volumes.
