Problem retrieving files from Notepad

I corrupted files in Mac Notepad and am trying to retrieve them from the SuperDuper "sparseimage" backup. I just backed the whole system up on Saturday, so everything should be there. However, it's not finding the Notepad program or, more importantly, the Notes data file associated with it.

This is the first time I've tried to retrieve something, and the backup seemed to skip over Notepad altogether. Does anyone know why??

thanks.

What Notepad application, Lapis? I don't know what the Notepad is.

Mac Notepad

It's just called Mac Notepad - the company is Apimac.

If the application was on the drive when you did a full copy, it certainly should be on the destination as well. Do you know where the application stores its data?

Two places

There should have been files in two places:

/Users/<you>/Library/Preferences/Apimac/ProgramName/
/Users/<you>/Library/Application Support/Apimac/ProgramName/

The Apimac folder did NOT copy over in either location to the "sparseimage" file.

I've never seen anything like that before, lapis. You're sure this backup was created after this application and its data was installed?

Quite sure

It's odd, and too bad SD didn't pick it up, but I guess I need to let it go at this point. The data is gone.

Thanks for trying to help.

Disk image

I'm running Notepad from a disk image, so perhaps that's the issue.

It wouldn't be the issue with the data storage, though. If the data was on the drive you were backing up, it should be on the destination. As I said, I've never seen a case where SD! didn't copy a file that it was supposed to...
