Booting from Clone on Different Machines

First off, let me just say that SuperDuper is one of the most amazing Mac tools I have ever used. Thank you.

Secondly, although I did search around the forums for the answer, I did not find the answer for the following question:

If I create a bootable clone of my harddrive on my Intel MacBook Pro (2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo), what types of Macs can I boot it off of (assuming I have a WD MyBook drive that is both USB and FireWire and the cloned partition is either GUID or APM)?

What are the restrictions in this capacity?

Thanks in advance.

Eugene

Only Intel Macs, Eugene. And only Macs that would normally be able to start up with that specific version of OSX (so, for example, the latest iMac probably wouldn't work until you installed whatever the next version of OSX is, when everything gets synced up again).

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a few questions then:
  • By version do you mean like 10.4.10 vs 10.4.9?
  • Assuming so, does this mean the backups are independent of hardware configuration (amount of RAM, Intel processor speed, etc)?

Yes, that's what I mean, and no, it's not independent of processor type, but yes -- different speed/ram are fine.
