permissions on backup volume
 

Excuse what may be an oft-answered question, and may be stupid as well, but ...

I've been using SD for many years on a single user system. Works great!
I back up onto an external drive.

Now I've added a new user on a separate login. Although this user doesn't have access to my account, he appears to have access to at least the top level of the backup volume, which has been given permissions thusly by SD

In fact, new user can go into this volume and go into my top level user folder and see all my subfolder titles in it, though is denied access to these folders. That seems a bit odd. Sure, I could just protect my whole home folder, but I have a Sites folder that offers public access.

Now, why is "admin" giving read access to "others"? Every time I change permission on that drive, SD resets it to what you see above. What is that "t" sticky bit for?

So how do I arrange it that my backup volume just gives access to admin?

Those permissions are exactly as they are on the original drive, dlass -- if he can access those folders that way on the backup, it should be the same on the source...
