LaCie disk format type

VMware is run on my Intel iMac (Leopard/Snow Leopard) which hosts Windows XP and Centos Linux. What format should be used on the LaCie drive to accommodate the different OS's?

What exactly are you trying to do?

If your XP/Linux VMs are stored as 'disk images' on your Intel iMac, rather than as separate partitions, your LaCie should be GUID partitioned and formatted as HFS+ (Mac OS Extended (Journaled), usually).

When you copy with SD, make sure VMWare is not running.
