Super Duper Restore
Hi
I have noticed that when restoring the internal drive from a smart update backup the system files do not necessarily are restored in the first tracks of the drive but they maintain the position they had on the backup drive. I need to know if there's an option to force restore to write to first tracks system files. (I use to format the drive before restore) Thank you very much Pasha |
No, they do not maintain the position they had - we're copying by file, not by sector.
You can't specify where things are going to go, no. However, the system will -- over a few boots -- automatically optimize its own placement via the Hotfile cache. |
Hi Dnanian,
Thanks for reply. I was getting this wrong assumption because after I restored, lately I was able to inspect the disk with iDefrag and I was showed a big empty space at the beginning of the drive. I'll research about hotfile cache. Thanks again, Pasha |
