Backup a few folders only?

Hi,

Not always i need to clone a complete disk, often i just need to backup a few folders over the network to another computer.

1. Is this possible with SD?
2. Would it be possible to automatically sync my local iTunes folder to another iTunes folder on my other computer.

Thanks :p

Not directly, no - we can't copy direct-to-disk over a network (only to an image).

Backing up an iTunes library

I'm backing you my master iTunes library to a sparseimage file on my NAS. To do this I created a SD dset script that includes only the iTunes path and excludes everything else... then set it to run with that rule whenever I manually mount the sparseimage.

I just peeked at the setup and it's been a while since I did this, so the details are sketchy.

My iTunes music dir is located in the root of a different internal drive and outside of ~/Music/iTunes/ ... which can be done via iTunes Advanced preferences.

This is the script xml:

Code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
        <key>Class</key>
        <string>Composite</string>
        <key>Description</key>
        <string>Backup iTunes Library</string>
        <key>Directives</key>
        <array>
                <dict>
                        <key>Directive</key>
                        <string>clone</string>
                        <key>Item</key>
                        <string>Master iTunes Library</string>
                </dict>
        </array>
        <key>Include Directives</key>
        <array>
                <string>Exclude all files.dset</string>
        </array>
</dict>
</plist>
