Recommend low cost 2.5" enclosure?

Hi all,

I've just bought a couple of 160G 2.5" drives in order to back up my nice new Macbook, only to find that the Smartdisk Firewire enclosures I planned to install them into will only support capacities up to 128 GB. They work, but the drive only shows up as a 128 GB drive.

So any recommendations for a low cost, USB or Firewire 2.5" IDE drive enclosure that can be successfully used for bootable SuperDuper backups on a Macbook? (By low cost I really mean cheap as in eBay cheap - I can't justify paying lots of money to access the extra capacity of those drives.)

I've seen one seller offering one at a reasonable price that claims to have the EPASS8801 Firewire and GL811E USB chipsets - anyone heard of these and do they work? Or have people had good or bad experiences with super-cheap no-brand USB enclosures?

Ta for any advice!

Check this one out.

I would recommend this device - I use it and it works great. Cheap as dirt and gets work done.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion, Izzy. Unfortunately I can't find that product on sale at a reasonable price here in the UK, and shipping direct from the US almost doubles the price!

I did some Googling and found the AC Ryan Alubox 2.5 combo Firewire/USB enclosure at a decent UK price, but I can't find any info on which chipset it uses. Has anyone got one of these?
