Partition name changed issue
I had a drive with one partition, it was named Main2
I cloned the data across to a larger drive which was temporarily called Main2new I renamed Main2 to Main2org and renamed Main2new to Main2. Before the drive transfer I had a scheduled SD Smart update from Main2 to Bud2 After the transfer SD defaults to using Main2org in the Smartupdate to Bud2 process. I have deleted the Schedule entry and restarted the Smart update from Main2 and set up a schedule entry for it. Next time the schedule runs it attempts to pick up the data from Main2org. All renames of the volumes have been done in Finder How can I fix it (apart from removing Main2org from the machine. Thanks for any help |
Sounds like Main2org was never erased with Disk Utility on receipt, and may have the same UUID as one of the other drives. Possible?
|
Main2org has only been renamed using Findder I did not wan to rease the data.
How do I change the UUID without deleting the data on the drive. Thanks |
You'd have to use hfs.util to do it in Terminal. It's a bit complicated to do - are you very comfortable in Terminal?
|
Not too comfortable - at the moment I have now unmounted the the Main2org drive so that it is not online - I will see what happens now

Drop me a support email and I'll give you some detailed instructions that should help. (I'd put them here but I don't want people searching and trying this without getting guidance.)
