Partitioning Questions
My wife has a 250 gb hdd on her iMac running Tiger. She just purchased a 320 gb usb hdd for backups. (How) Can I partition the usb drive for disk cloning and then have the remaining disk space usable? Please advise.
Thanks in advance! |
I've posted this before, but to repeat:
* Start Disk Utility * Select the external drive hardware in the sidebar * Click the Partition tab * Use Disk Utility's controls to divide the drive as needed. Use "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" as the format type and name appropriately * Click Options * Choose the proper partition scheme (GUID for Intel macs, Apple Partition Map for Power PC) and accept the page * Click Partition. |
Dave,
If I partition the drive as mentioned, will I be able to access either partition from Linux &/or Windows? |
Not unless they understand Mac partitioning.
