New to Mac and Super Duper

While looking at the Mac internal Hard disk, I discovered that the backup image file was 30 gigs big!! Is this typical? Should I delete it from time to time? It was unter of course "Backups" ( I am backing up to a firewire partioned drive) and this is after a week of doing backups.

All depends on how much data you're copying to it... it can grow to the full size of the original drive, of course! :)

Any particular reason you're not copying directly to the drive? You're much better off doing that if you can...

May I ask how do I do that?

Sure. Select the volume you want to copy to in the destination pop-up, rather than "Disk Image..."
