Please help me! Hard drive failing, cloning errors...

Hey there.

I'd really appreciate some help here. I am on an extremely limited and inflexible schedule right now, and of course my hard drive decided to fail at the most inconvenient time in my life.

So, I have a new internal coming. The present drive is still kind of working but is wonky. I am trying to get a clone made using superduper so that I can use it to transfer my current drive to the new one coming.

I am going out to by a new external drive today, but right now, I am trying to clone using a disk image, and this is the error I am getting with that (the name of the disk image is "CLONE"):

Can someone please direct me!? I am desperate and I really don't have time to search through the archives. (I am sorry if that sounds rude or arrogant or something, but I am seriously freaking out here and need to get up and running ASAP --- )

It certainly looks like the internal drive is damaged. Let's try to fix it with Disk Utility.

Please boot from your OS X install DVD and run Disk Utility from the Installer menu (the bold one that says "Installer" next to the Apple menu at the top of the screen) or Utilities/Tools menu (Depending on the version of the disc).

Then, use the First Aid tab to repair the internal drive, using the buttons on the right (NOT Repair Permissions on the left). Repeat until no problems are found, then try again.

That didn't work. It does the same exact thing.

Disk Repair kept on saying something about overlapping file extensions...

OK. The drive's pretty hosed, then. Perhaps Disk Warrior?
