How do I actually restore my system?

This is probably an exceedingly stupid question, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere; I'm sure I'm missing some obvious instructions somewhere, but.......I need to restore my entire OS after getting my G4 Powerbook repaired; I have a bootable backup on an external firwire drive (done using the SuperDuper), and am able to successfully mount the drive. My question is: how do I actually transfer the backed-up contents of the external drive back to the hard drive in my computer? Do I have to manually drag the contents from the backup drive, or is there another way? Someone has suggested using the Migration Assist utility, but I'm a bit clueless as to all this, and am nervous about losing all my data. Sorry, I'm sure this is a very basic thing. Any help appreciated... :)

We've got instructions in the User's Guide that go over this in some detail (see "Recovering from a disaster"). Basically, just boot from the backup and use SuperDuper! to copy the files back, using "Backup - all files" and either "Smart Update" or "Erase, then copy".

cheers dnanian – the restore worked great, everything's back on my system in one piece. Sorry again for my pointless post, please feel free to delete :)

Not pointless at all -- glad you got things restored as expected.
