reinstall certain items

My MBP has been playing up a bit recently so I've decided to do a clean install of Leopard (after fully backing up my HD with SuperDuper!). What I was wondering is whether there's any way of copying over certain apps and for the registration details, prefs etc to stay in tact when doing so.

I wanted to copy my backed up apps a few at a time to see if it was any of these that was causing my slow down problems first of all.

I doubt if there's a simple way of doing this because registration details, prefs and application files get left in various places on the OS.

Any help though would be much appreciated.

Are you sure that's the right way to diagnose this problem? In general, a clean install is a pretty radical step to take... but, no, you can't drag and drop applications that were installed with installers.

Have you tried something as simple as an archive-and-install?

I don't really mind clean installing - like a bit of a spring clean really. My machine just seems to be crunching away at the smallest of tasks at the moment and I'm not sure why - nothing weird is appearing in the Activity Monitor or the Console.

Actually the Archive and Install might not be a bad idea though, thanks.
