Full backup to disk image-would restore be bootable?
Instead of cloning to a separate partition I am thinking of backing up a full system to a diskimage. I realize that the image itself will not be bootable, but want to make sure that if I restore it to a volume that it will still boot.
Is there anything special that I need to do to the diskimage to ensure this? I will nit be using the SD! "Disk Image.." dialog to create the target diskimage since it does not seem to support creating an encrypted diskimage. So, I will create the diskimage in Disk Utility first. The diskimage creation dialog in Disk Utility gives several options for "Partition." The default is 'Single Partition-GIUD." Is this correct for out stated purpose? OS X 10.9.5 SuperDuper! 2.7.5 |
Yes, it should still boot once restored (I think I cover that in the User's Guide).
