GUID/APM volume conversion

I'm told in the Apple discussion forums that SD can work both ways but I cannot figure out how to do this.

I bought an upgraded Mini from a dealer who formatted the internal HD as Apple Partition Map - now I cannot install EFI updates as a result (or possibly other future updates as well?) because those updates require the internal HD to be GUID, the factory default.

So I finally decided to bite the bullet and reformat the internal to GUID. Having a Time Machine, Super Duper duplicate of the internal on 2 separate 1TB externals, I figured there is no way I will have an "oops" moment and lose everything. LOL

Here's the thing though - I formatted the SD drive as GUID and partitioned it as such - HOWEVER - the individual copied bootable volume is, (being a duplicate) an APM volume!

I see this as becoming an exercise in frustration getting nowhere! I would theoretically boot from the volume, erase the internal - reformatting to GUID, and then duplicate an APM volume right back onto it again!!!! aaaarrrrgh. ha ha

Any clues as to how to accomplish this conversion of the internal from APM to GUID using a SD backup????? :-/

Not a problem. We don't copy the partition scheme - just the contents of the partition. So, copy from APM->GUID doesn't matter.

Just to report back - complete success at reformatting my internal over to GUID and restoring from SD. Little Snitch even remembered it's rules... everything seems to be perfect! Thanks again.
