restore and permissions problems
I originally created my super duper backup using 10.4. I upgraded to Leopard and have been continually doing updates via super duper to my lacie firewire drive.
10.5.1 recently did a bad thing to my computer and I tried doing a restore. I booted from the lacie drive and allowed super duper to restore to my macintosh hd. Now permissions seem all screwed up. Firefox complains, terminal throws a "login: pam error (line 396): system error" and itunes says "the itunes library file is locked, on a locked disk or you don't have write permission". Did I do something wrong restoring? |
SuperDuper! is not yet compatible with Leopard, drfence... I'm not surprised it's not booting properly... you might want to try migrating from the backup after installing a clean copy: that might work.

I knew it wasn't totally leopard ready, I didn't know if there was some way finesse it.
When you say migrate you just mean fresh 10.5 install and then copy my necessary files over? |
You might be able to finesse it by adjusting permissions for the files that are giving errors and creating the
/private/var/run folder (which is likely missing). |
