Multiple Images for Testing

Hi there.

My company just bought 2 Macbooks with the intent of offering our software products in the Mac world...

I'm trying to emulate our PC-based test environment, which basically consists of partitioning PCs hard drives with the primary partition used for OS testing and the secondary partition used for various 'images' for the PC, using Symantec Ghost Corporate, and a bootable USB memory key to kick off the backups/restores.

I think this can be done with SD, I'm just not sure how to get started.

I have access to extra SATA hard drives and USB 2.0 hard drives, but am trying to keep this self-contained, if possible.

Thanks in advance for your assistance with this!

Just create the appropriate number of test volumes. They'll all be directly bootable.

If you want to reset them, copy to a 'test' volume with "Backup - all files" and "Smart Update". Then, start up from that volume. Re-copying resets.

Make sense?

Thanks for the quick reply!

So you're saying I need to reformat the Macbook's hard drive with multiple partitions, reinstall the initial partition with the recovery DVDs, then use SD to create the backup loads?

Also, how would I directly boot to the test volumes?

Pardon my ignorance - I'm still a PC user @ heart.

Thanks again!

Well, you can reformat the MacBook drive OR put partitions on an external drive. Then, use SD! to copy from one partition to the other at will.

You can start up from a test volume using the Startup Disk Preference Pane.
