I'd need to see the log from the run, Dan. There are a number of WD drives, so it's hard to know for sure. The easiest thing to do is to install OSX "straight" to the drive and see if that works....

OK -- I assume you did a full "Backup - all files" to the external, using either "Erase, then copy" or "Smart Update"?

If so, does your OSX show up in the Startup Disk preference pane?
