Hey Dave,

Thanks for the tip of hiding SD during use with 10.4.8. I was forced to update to 10.4.8 to use the Beta of Photoshop CS3. Hiding worked like a charm.

The dealer I got the Mac from said that all new Intel Macs that he orderd for his customers recently came with 10.4.7...

You could try deleting the preference file and repairing permissions
