I know this is an old thread, but I had the exact same problem. Partitioned drive (Backup and Storage); I could add the Storage partition to the privacy pane perfectly, but the SD! Backup partition...

I tried superduper for the first time last night. I backed up from my local 40GB HD to an image on an external USB HD. Since my laptop only has usb 1.1, I started the process and left for the night....
