I am replacing my internal HD in three days. It still works but is going. I will put Leopard back on it and then use SD to restore all else, (I hope, LOL.) or should I just use SD to put everything...

This was not a SD problem, it was my hardware problem but dnanian was gracious enough to help me out and I appreciate it.

If it is a firewire you should be able to boot on your Mac. I have the Maxtor 300 GB and it has firewire and USB, I used firewire for this reason.

Got my new External HD (Maxtor). Installed it using SD, worked like a charm, 1 Hr from start to finish as opposed to 15 hours with numerous problems!
