Help! Files are corrupt.

Hello.

I back-up my files with SD! from my mac onto a snap server.

Recently, my hard drive began making the notorious scratching sound, and had to be replaced.

Luckily, I had all my files backed-up on the snap server.
But, when I went to open them, the appear to be corrupted.
I have 4 GB of backed-up files that are have the label "BU.sparseimage"

I can see the files....their icons, size, created & modified date.
But, when I go to open them, I get the following messages:

Cannot open file. Adobe InDesign may not support file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application.

OR

Acrobat could not open (file name) because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

(Some of the Illustrator files will open, but the documents do not contain any information.)

I have tried dragging the files to the proper application, as well as trying to open them on another computer.

Is there a way to salvage these files?
It seems like there should be a way to access the files, since I can see them and they are taking up disk space.

Or, are they corrupted beyond recognition?

Thanks!
