Validate my upgrade approach please?

Hi - I'm not sure if this forum is meant for this... however...

I plan on updating to a new MacBook Pro 16". In the past, I would do an update of this kind with the old Mac in my possession, but this time I intend to trade in my older machine, so I'd like to wipe it before I go to the store and do it all at once. Current machine is running Catalina and I have a SuperDuper backup using the most up-to-date version.

Here is how I believe I should do this:

1. Do a SuperDuper! backup to my external SSD drive.
2. Boot my existing computer from this SSD backup to validate that everything is correct.
3. Check the Time Machine backup (on a different drive) so I know I have another current backup just in case.
4. Restart the old machine from the built-in startup disk, then sign out of Music/iCloud/Messages. Disconnect SSD with the SuperDuper backup.
5. Erase and re-install MacOS on the existing machine. Take it to the store for trade-in.

--Purchase new machine--

6. Turn on the new machine, plugged in.
7. Connect the SSD with the backup
8. Open Migration Assistant and follow the instructions to migrate from the SSD backup.
9. That's it.

Is there any issue with this, even considering how new the most updated version of SuperDuper is at the current time?
