Smart Copy problem

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with Smart Copy, backing up to a sparse image. The copy runs to completion, but for EVERY file copied, the log shows an entry such as:
WARNING: Caught I/O exception(5): Input/output error
WARNING: Source: /Users/appelman/Documents/TaxAuthorities/MDresidentbook.pdf, lstat(): 0
WARNING: Target: /Volumes/Backup3oct07/Users/appelman/Documents/TaxAuthorities/MDresidentbook.pdf, lstat(): 0
Attempting to copy file using copyfile().
Attempting to copy file using ditto.
Successfully copied file.

The resulting log file is 6 MB! I'm running SuperDuper 2.1.4 with OS 10.4.11 on a G5 iMac.

(DAVE: I know we've discussed this, but I am curious to see if I am alone in having this problem.)
