Exclamation Lost HD space while performing backup

I recently tried to backup using Super Duper. The drive that I was backing up to is a World Book which I know you do not recommend. When starting the backup I confirmed a file was being created on the network drive. It was around 3GB of what I expected to grow to 45GB. Later in the evening I noticed the drive was no longer listed as mounted for some strange reason, but Super Duper was still writing. Since this was the first time I have used Super Duper I thought this may be normal, so I let it run.

The next morning Super Duper said it had completed, but my network drive file was still 3GB and my Macbook Pro's hard drive had increased in used space by 45GB. In searching the drive I cannot find a large file on the order of 40GB. Could you please point me in the right direction to reclaiming this lost space?

Thank you in advance for any help
