Suggestion

I used SuperDuper for years to back up my computer and never had a serious problem with it. I would smart-update an external volume. Recently I added a second custom script that I use occasionally to copy new files from one folder to another volume, without erasing anything.

The last time I used that script, I forgot to change the "During copy" menu from Smart Update, which the main backup script uses, to Copy Different Files. As a result I wiped out a lot of older files that I no longer keep on my computer.

I could also imagine forgetting to reset the target volume when switching scripts, and what kind of hell that could cause.

Here's my suggestion: Allow the target volume AND the type of copy (smart update/copy different/etc. be set in the script. That way, it is set it and forget it. For people who have multiple backup/copy routines, this could be a lifesaver. Or am I missing some way to set those items in the script?

Thanks,
Jim
