Difference between Macintosh HD and Places

I recently upgraded my 160gb drive to a wd3200bevt using sd to clone the original drive. Now the Mac HD has 149gb free space which is correct but when I look in finder at "Places" which contains desktop, home, applications, documents, etc... it says I only have 5.4gb available. Why the drastic difference between Macintosh HD and Places?? Also I made the clone while signed into the guest acct on my comp, which is what sd tells you to do, I use File Vault for my personal acct. So when logged into the guest acct there is no difference between Mac HD and Places both show 149gb available space.

Probably because FileVault is showing you information about the Vault, rather than the drive?

Well the thing is, I tried to move my music file(40gb) from Mac HD to the desktop but it says there's not enough free space. So thats the thing I cant figure out why I dont have 149gb free everywhere?

This really sounds like something you should ask Apple, Frank: it seems to be an issue with FileVault.

It was FV or SD's compatibility with FV. Had to free up a ton of disk space to turn it off (124gb). SD still works great tho. Thx big man.

Glad you're all set. Don't think it has anything to do with SD!'s "compatibility" with FV, because you weren't really using SD!
