Help making a script
Hi. I'm real new here. I have a small problem. I want to set up thigs to backup every day. I want it automated. I need to shut down the program to make a proper backup. I want to automate that. Can someone help a real dummy like me? It would be nice if the script (shell script, I guess) would shut down the application before SD runs, and then, I would need it to relaunch the application after the copy is made. Thank you.

What program do you need to shut down?

The name will probably be "Artbase". It's a Filemaker database. So, more specifically, I need it to stut down, and then open, a file. The name is not determined yet, because we are installing things in 3-4 days. For the purposes of this excercise, can we say that it will be called "ArtBase", and placed on the first level of a volume named "Server". Thanks.

This isn't something that I can really help with, unfortunately: I don't have FileMaker. But, there are likely people around -- or consultants -- that can give you the answers you need. We provide the ability to run scripts before and after your copy, though, so you're in good shape once you determine the actual scripting you need...
