backing up multiple drives to a single destination
I'm trying to schedule backups from two drives to one single drive. Not the entire volume, just specific folders from each, set on two different daily schedules. I've already set up a scheduled backup for one (and written a script for it telling it what to exclude), but I don't know if it's possible to set different one in tandem. The other problem I'm encountering is that unlike the previous script i'd written that only omitted 1 folder, for the second script I need to know how to pick selected folder from the drive to backup. Hope I haven't botched up my explanation. Any help would be great.

To do multiple backups to a single drive you will need to either partition it (one partition for each backup, maybe another one if you really want to store other data on the drive, too), OR you will need to backup to sparse images on the drive itself.
I have not used the include exclude stuff much before, so I am not sure how you should set that up. Maybe "include <your folder>" followed by exclude "*". You could try things out by doing "backups" from one small disk image to another (so that SD does not have to scan your entire hard drive for each test run). |
