Can't Boot from the new Drive
I back up all file from original hard drive with superduper to the firewire drive by using Copy newer files obtion because I do have some other file in the firewire drive that I don't want to delete.
Then I put new harddrive in my laptop and copied all file back to the new drive. Now The laptop couldn't boot up by itself. I assume it might be while I finished my back up at the first time I didn't create a "set new drive as a Start up Disk" option. additional, my friewire drive is way bigger than my new harddrive and I don't want to copy everything to my new drive. I am be able to boot from the firewire drive thought. Now what should I do to make my new drive can start up by itself. Thanks Last edited by hypepo11; 02-24-2009 at 08:52 PM. |

Well... "copy newer" doesn't really create a bootable result in all cases, even if the drive is successfully blessed. Also, are you sure the drive was properly partitioned as GUID (for Intel) or Apple Partition Map (for Power PC)?

Did you partition the new drive as GUID? Were you able to start up from the FireWire drive? It wasn't clear from your message how you copied things back to the new drive.

And you copied, in full, using "Backup - all files" from the FireWire drive to the internal? Does the internal drive appear as a choice in the Startup Disk preference pane in System Preferences?
