backing up only selected files
I want to be able to run a backup (into my bootable external drive) of only the 5 or so files that change daily.
Can SD be set up to do that? (At the present time, my main computer is having logic board problems, so I do NOT want to run a normal backup and risk screwing up my good backup disk). Last edited by t3rockhall; 11-17-2006 at 12:01 PM. |

I'd suggest manually backing up those files, actually. But you *could* just do the 5 files: but that would require a copy script.
To do it, you'd follow the general steps in the "Exclude files and folders from a backup" section of the User's Guide. Except: - Include "Exclude all files" in the 2nd tab, rather than "Backup - all files" - Add the 5 files you want to back up in the 3rd tab, making sure the command in front is "copy" The other steps are the same, but make SURE you use "Copy Different" as your "During Copy" method. DO NOT USE SMART UPDATE, or all the other files on the backup will be removed.
