False Full only 16GB instead of c.50GB
*****
Using superduper v. 2.5 Mac OS 10.4.11 Maxtor One Touch 4 HD using firewire 400 ***** well the other night i set up superduper to backup my mac mini (80GB HD). when i checked the superduper in the morning it had backed up only 16GB, which it said was a full bootable backup. superduper was running from a non admin account. the mini was set to stay awake and it was in the morning. i used cocktail to run scripts , maintenance and repair permissions on pilot. restarted the mini just in case. logged in holding down the shift key. my itunes library is bigger than 16GB alone. its located in public folder, for sharing between accounts. So what went wrong, how do i fix this? |

That's awfully weird, mac_dave. Please download and install 2.1.4 instead and give that a try; let's see if it works as expected.

im not so sure it will.
i used carbon copy cloner too and it did the same thing. showed that 2 hours had elapsed and 16GB was backed up. ill try out the earlier version of SD could it be a permissions problem? |

It shouldn't be if you're not getting an error. Are you sure Finder isn't just not refreshing?

what do you mean by finder "not refreshing"?
when i view the volume in finder it shows the partition "Mac Mini Backup" has 16GB or so. |

I mean it might not be updating properly. Try Control+Option clicking Finder's dock icon and choosing "Relaunch".

Ah, well, OK: that would be definitively wrong, then.
No errors at all? It just seems kind of weird. Does the log indicate it copied more than 16GB?

well that seems to have sorted the problem by just logging into a different user account on the mac mini. maybe it was the spotlight indexing. there you go problem sorted. thanks for your help.

Weird, David. I don't know why that would cause the issue you described.
