Wake iTunes server
I will be running my iTunes off of an old iMac (10.3.9). This machine will go to sleep after a while to conserve energy.
Will netTunes wake it up (WakeOnLan) when it starts up? Thanks |

No, it won't, Ed -- sorry... but you can use one of the various wake-on-lan applications to wake it.

Wake On LAN is tied to a lot of different stuff -- the Mac address of the adapter, it has to happen on Wired not Wireless... it's something I've been reluctant to do, frankly...

* iTunes plugin for the server machine that grabs the WOL info * when netTunes connects to the iTunes server that info is transmitted and stored in netTunes * then when someone fires up netTunes, you run the simple WOL perl script (that is really easy to find) and the machine will wake right up. Easy peasy!! |

Honestly, Ed, I do know *how* to do it. I'm just *reluctant* to do so.
It's not asked for very much (most people leave their music servers turned on)... and you'd have the same issues were you trying to do iTunes Playlist Sharing and the like.Anyway, I do understand the request... thanks!
