Image restore ends with an error

Hi,

Just downloaded the evaluation version today. Nifty app! It works fine for me so far, except I get an error when restoring from a disk image. It doesn't seem to be anything critical but I don't know what it is. Something about UUID (12E6F3D853A2814C)??? I can't figure what that is. I created the master image on one machine to restored it on others. Below is the output from the log. Thanks. Adam.

Hi, Adam.

This is a known issue, but it's actually an "extra step" we take to restore the original UUID (a low-level identifier) to a drive. The actual drive has been restored properly, as you'll see by looking at it -- only the UUID is different.

This is fixed in v2.0. In the meantime, just ignore the error. (Note that, because the UUID is different, you may have to select the drive as a source or destination in SuperDuper! again.

Thanks a lot. That's what I figured - it didn't seem critical and the machine works fine. I just needed a confirmation I'm glad to see it doesn't have the issue with making system dirs visible as Disk Utility and NetRestore do. I'll play with it for a few more days if you don't mind, but it looks like I'll be buying it. It's a great app at a very decent price. Thanks. Adam.

Actually, system folder/file visibility is something that does happen with all programs. There are a lot of things that control that, and it changes every release.

In general, if the disk is the boot drive, those files are hidden -- otherwise, they're not. There's a file called ".hidden" that has a list of folders that can be hidden at other times, but that seems to have been deprecated/removed in Tiger, so I'm not sure if it's still supported at all...

Anyway, evaluate as long as you feel is necessary... and thanks for the follow-up. Let me know if you have any other questions.
