boot disk does not show up in pop up list

I am trying to copy my boot disk to my firewire drive but when I look on the popup list it does not showup. I am running a cube with 10.3.8. I have tried safe boot and moving the program to different disks and also changed ownership of disk. Any one have any ideas?

tia,
Tom

It's likely that your disk is formatted for DOS/Windows, Tom. Try erasing the FireWire drive with Disk Utility.

Alternatively, if you want to leave it in Windows format, you can store a sparse image on the drive using the instructions in this FAQ:

Hope that helps...

Ah, sorry -- you said "it" so I assumed it was the FireWire drive that wouldn't show up. Well, that's awfully strange: I've never heard of this problem before. Is it formatted as HFS+?

Perhaps you could generate a System Profiler report and send it to support. To do so, run System Profiler, choose File | Save and save to the default (XML) format. Then, mail it in and I'll take a look.

For those following this, the problem was that the boot disk wasn't formatted as HFS+, but rather as UFS.
