restore and permissions problems

I originally created my super duper backup using 10.4. I upgraded to Leopard and have been continually doing updates via super duper to my lacie firewire drive.

10.5.1 recently did a bad thing to my computer and I tried doing a restore. I booted from the lacie drive and allowed super duper to restore to my macintosh hd. Now permissions seem all screwed up. Firefox complains, terminal throws a "login: pam error (line 396): system error" and itunes says "the itunes library file is locked, on a locked disk or you don't have write permission".

Did I do something wrong restoring?

SuperDuper! is not yet compatible with Leopard, drfence... I'm not surprised it's not booting properly... you might want to try migrating from the backup after installing a clean copy: that might work.

I knew it wasn't totally leopard ready, I didn't know if there was some way finesse it.

When you say migrate you just mean fresh 10.5 install and then copy my necessary files over?

You might be able to finesse it by adjusting permissions for the files that are giving errors and creating the

/private/var/run

folder (which is likely missing).
