Thank you for your very quick replies! i think I am finally getting the hang of this.

One last question. Let's say I download a system update to my Safety clone to test out how it's working...check for bugs, etc. What if the update is great, with no bugs whatsoever? Do I then have to reboot to my original drive, and re-download the sytem update on that drive? That would seem time consuming (albeit safe!), or is there an easier way?

Thanks again for your patience. I am planning on my first safety clone tomorrow, and I just want to make sure I've got it down.
