Difficulty backing up to a SMB network volume
Hi all,
I downloaded SuperDuper! hoping that it'd be able to provide a workable solution to backing my wife's MacBook up to one of the standalone NAS volumes (SMB) I have on the network here at home. Thus far SD itself seems to be working well, with a couple of caveats - I've found I have to physically delete the DMG file that I'm backing up to otherwise SD will refuse to mount it, and I can only get about 50-80 megabytes into a backup before the system appears to spontaneously disconnect from the SMB share (not visible to SD, not visible in a Finder window, nothing), which of course causes the backup to fail. I suspect this is an OS X problem rather than a SD issue, but I was wondering if anyone else had run into anything similar. OS X version is 10.4.10, SD version is 2.1.4. |

That certainly sounds like trouble on the NAS side, give the disconnects, etc. I test regularly with NAS devices (Airport Extreme and a ReadyNAS NV) without any trouble...
