Password protection for External Drive with SD

I love superduper and have been using it for a couple years. I backup to an external drive that gets put in a safe at home. I used to keep my laptops out but we had a home theft and they took both laptops!!! I caught it soon enough to change various account passwords to protect myself.

Now both laptops are password and "undercover" protected AND go into the safe when not used.

Here is the new twist. I saw costco had these really small 1TB drives. I am going on a trip to Europe and I am thinking of bring the drive with laptop for photos & Videos (I take A LOT of pictures). I was thinking it would be nice to have a back-up copy of laptop with me in case I have a laptop system problem (I have had that before). So I partitioned the drive for photos and for superduper.

But the little drive is unprotected. I don't care about the photos but, I would like to keep the superduper bootable so I can deal with any laptop issues. Is there a way to password protect the superduper partition AND still keep it bootable?
