Creating a bootable backup on HD with other files?

Hi, I'm thinking of using my WD 1TB external HD to create a bootable backup (osx 10.5.7) with superduper. The external HD is already in use as backup for my pictures, but with 500GB free space.

Can I create a bootable backup on this drive without deleting the other files? If so how? :-)

Thanx
IAK
