Drive Test
Is there a way to test an external HD to see if it can be used as a boot drive before you start to back up to it?

I'm not quite sure what you mean. You can just try starting up from it... most quality FW drives work, as do most USB drives (for Intel Macs ONLY), given proper partitioning (see the FAQ).

I was looking for a method to test the drive before I went ahead and load it for SD. My thought was that if it didnt work then I would use that drive as my TM drive. However, after reading the SD manual Im not sure Im going to even load TM. It would save me the cost of another drive.
Thanks, Jim |
