Hangs during copy...

OSX 10.6.8, SD 264. I do a weekly archive back up of my MacBook Pro to a Lacie Rikiki portable via USB 3 on my Mac Pro Quad Core Xeon. (Have the Lacie USB PCI 3 card on the Quad Core) For the MacBook Pro I mount it to the Pro Quad Core via target disk via Firewire 800. This has been working fine for months. I also use SD to do an archive backup of the system disk on the Quad Core to another partition on the Lacie Rikiki and have had no problems. (The Lacie is my off-site emergency backup in case the house burns down) Now when I try to back up the MacBook it has started to hang. Have repaired the drives with both DiskWarrior and Disk Utility and on the next run of SD get the same results.
Looking for troubleshooting suggestions. TIA
