what size for 2nd internal HD?

I currently have a 160gb internal HD. I want to add a second internal HD to use to backup my original HD. Should I get the second drive larger than the first so that I can partition it and have room for a safety clone on one partition and a complete backup on the other?

What are the pros and cons of backing up to a 2nd internal HD?

Well, the disadvantage of using an internal HD for backup is that it doesn't get to rest, thermally. It's always in the same hot case as the original, and if it's spinning most of the time, it's more likely to fail.

But, internal drives are usually faster, and these things don't break that often.

So, kind of a trade-off. Certainly you can put a Safety Clone on it without worry...
