Hi,
I'm getting the following Error message:

| 06:43:40 PM | Info |       WARNING:  Target: /Volumes/extern/lost+found/2877/SystemEntropyCache, lstat(): 0
| 06:43:40 PM | Info | Attempting to copy file using copyfile().
| 06:43:40 PM | Info | Attempting to copy file using ditto.
| 06:45:20 PM | Error | ditto: /lost+found/2877/./SystemEntropyCache: Input/output error
| 06:45:21 PM | Error | SDCopy: Failed to recover from copy error for file /lost+found/2877/SystemEntropyCache: Operation not supported
Can I delete the file "SystemEntropyCache" without problems?
Thank you for an answer

Since it's in the lost+found folder, it's already been identified as corrupt and has been "moved aside". I'd delete the entire folder after looking in there for anything you might need.

Thank you, I will try it.

[edit]
Ooops, stop, there are 184 objects (folders with numbers as name), do you really think I can delete them?

Well, the thing is these files were moved here because the system found they were damaged/messed up. It's unlikely that you'll be able to recover them, but if you're concerned delete the one file that's indicating an error, and see if SD can copy the others.

Ok, I deleted SystemEntropyCache because it was also impossible to copy it to the external firewire-drive. In about one hour I can tell you if it works.

SuperDuper reported the next problem in the lost+found folder. All folders in the lost+found folder have the same date - it was the day the iMac crashed and I had to reinstall the system.

Yep. Sounds like there were a lot of damaged files in there. I'd delete them, alf.

You're welcome, and good idea -- it's always smart to do these things when you're fresh and thinking as clearly as possible.

Hi,
I deleted all folders (184) and files (more than 16,000) in the lost+found folder and after that I had no more problems. First I tried to burn all these files witz Toast but this was impossible, too.
But it seems as everything works fine.
Thank you once again for your help.
