Wake iTunes server

I will be running my iTunes off of an old iMac (10.3.9). This machine will go to sleep after a while to conserve energy.

Will netTunes wake it up (WakeOnLan) when it starts up?

Thanks

No, it won't, Ed -- sorry... but you can use one of the various wake-on-lan applications to wake it.

Wake On LAN is tied to a lot of different stuff -- the Mac address of the adapter, it has to happen on Wired not Wireless... it's something I've been reluctant to do, frankly...

I completely understand, but here is a simple design that shouldn't be too bad to implement:
* iTunes plugin for the server machine that grabs the WOL info
* when netTunes connects to the iTunes server that info is transmitted and stored in netTunes
* then when someone fires up netTunes, you run the simple WOL perl script (that is really easy to find) and the machine will wake right up.

Easy peasy!!

Honestly, Ed, I do know *how* to do it. I'm just *reluctant* to do so. It's not asked for very much (most people leave their music servers turned on)... and you'd have the same issues were you trying to do iTunes Playlist Sharing and the like.

Anyway, I do understand the request... thanks!
