Files/Folders Missing from Source Drive
Have there ever been reports of SmartUpdate deleting files from the source drive?
I think (although I'm not sure) that some files/folders are randomly missing from the source drive after I do a SmartUpdate. Obviously they don't appear on the target drive either. Perhaps my memory as to what was on the source drive is sketchy, but I'm pretty sure the files were there when I started the SmartUpdate. |

Absolutely not. Smart Update does not ever delete files or folders from the source drive. We have extensive sanity checks before any destructive operation that checks the device ID of the volume to ensure that it is not the source (and is the intended destination).

Thanks for the re-assurance, Dave.
It must be that I thought certain files were on the source drive, but were not. |

I definitely agree.
Note -- Finder sometimes will not update properly to show everything on the destination. Relaunching it (Control-Option-Click its dock icon, choose "Relaunch") will fix that kind of thing. This doesn't sound like that case, though, since it's the source and not the destination.
